Adults should have an eye examination every 1-2 years. If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of eye disease, annual examinations are recommended. Children should have their eyes checked before starting school and regularly thereafter.

A comprehensive eye examination typically takes 30-45 minutes. If additional tests like OCT scanning or visual field testing are needed, it may take longer. Dilation adds approximately 20-30 minutes waiting time.

If your eyes are dilated during the examination, your vision will be blurry for 2-4 hours. We recommend bringing sunglasses and arranging alternative transport home if possible.

You do not need a referral for a routine eye examination. For specialist ophthalmology consultations, a referral from your GP or optometrist may be helpful but is not required.

Standard prescription glasses are typically ready within 3-5 working days. Complex prescriptions or specialty lenses may take longer. The exact timeframe will be confirmed when you order.
